Appliance repair questions answered — White Plains, NY

Whether you're wondering about cost, scheduling, brands we service, or whether to repair or replace, we've answered the questions White Plains and Westchester homeowners ask most often. Don't see what you need? Just call.

Scheduling & pricing

Do you offer same-day appliance repair in White Plains?

Yes. In most cases we offer same-day or next-day appointments throughout White Plains and central Westchester County. Call early in the day — before noon is ideal — for the best chance at a same-day slot. For urgent situations like a refrigerator full of food that stopped cooling, we prioritize emergency calls. See our emergency repair page for details.

How much does a service call or diagnostic visit cost?

We charge a flat diagnostic/service-call fee to come out and identify the problem. Once we diagnose the issue, we give you a complete, all-in repair quote before any work begins. If you approve the repair, the diagnostic fee is applied toward the job total — you are not paying twice. If you decide not to proceed, you only pay the service-call fee. You will never receive an itemized surprise at the end.

Do you charge extra for evenings or weekends?

We are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Call us at (914) 341-3256 to ask about current availability and whether any premium applies for your requested time slot.

Repairs & warranty

Do you guarantee your appliance repairs?

Yes. Every repair we complete is backed by a workmanship warranty covering both labor and the parts we install. If a covered repair fails within the warranty period, we come back and make it right at no charge. We document every job so there is no ambiguity about what is covered.

Do you carry parts on the truck?

Yes. Our service trucks are stocked with high-failure components for the brands and appliances we service most — Samsung, LG, Whirlpool, GE, Bosch, and others. Many common repairs — drain pumps, door switches, heating elements, thermal fuses, start relays — are completed in a single visit without waiting on a parts order.

Do you repair both gas and electric appliances?

Yes. We repair gas dryers, gas ranges, gas cooktops, and gas ovens, as well as all electric appliances. If you ever smell gas from your range or oven, leave the house, do not use any switches or phones inside, and call your gas utility's emergency line first — then call us once it is safe. See our oven & range repair page for more on gas safety.

How do I prepare for the technician's visit?

Clear a work path to the appliance and, if possible, pull it slightly away from the wall so the technician can access the back. For a leaking washer or dishwasher, have towels on hand. Write down the model number (usually on a label inside the door or on the back panel) and note when the problem started and any error codes displayed. That information helps us come prepared with the right parts.

Brands & parts

What appliance brands do you repair?

We service all major brands, including Samsung, LG, Whirlpool, GE, Maytag, Frigidaire, Kenmore, Bosch, KitchenAid, Electrolux, Amana, and Hotpoint. We also repair luxury and built-in appliances: Sub-Zero, Wolf, Viking, Thermador, Miele, Dacor, and Fisher & Paykel. See our full brands page for details.

Do you use OEM parts or aftermarket parts?

We use OEM (original equipment manufacturer) or OEM-equivalent parts whenever possible. Cheap aftermarket parts save money up front but often fail faster and can cause secondary damage. We stock quality components and source directly from authorized distributors. If a non-OEM part is the right call for a specific situation, we will tell you that clearly before proceeding.

Can you repair my high-end Sub-Zero or Viking appliance?

Yes. We service luxury and professional-grade appliances including Sub-Zero refrigerators, Viking ranges and refrigerators, Wolf cooktops and ovens, Thermador ranges, and Miele dishwashers. These brands require specific diagnostic tools and knowledge — not every local shop takes them on. Call us to discuss your specific model. See our brands page for the full lineup.

Repair vs. replace

Should I repair my appliance or replace it?

The general rule of thumb: repair if the appliance is less than roughly 8 years old and the repair cost is less than half the price of a comparable new unit. For older or heavily-used appliances, or when a major component like a compressor or motor has failed, replacement often makes more financial sense. Our techs give you an honest recommendation either way — we also sell appliances, so we can help you find a replacement if repair is not the right call. See our repair-or-replace guide for a full breakdown by appliance type.

My refrigerator is not cooling but the freezer still works. What is wrong?

A warm refrigerator compartment with a still-cold freezer is a classic sign of an airflow problem — most commonly a failed evaporator fan motor, a frosted-over evaporator coil, or a stuck damper not letting cold air circulate from the freezer into the fridge. It can also point to a defrost system failure. This is usually a straightforward, cost-effective repair. See our refrigerator not cooling guide or book a diagnostic.

Why is my dryer not heating?

The most common cause on electric dryers is a blown thermal fuse — often triggered by a clogged exhaust vent. On gas dryers it could be the igniter, flame sensor, or gas valve coils. Before assuming a part failure, check that the dryer exhaust vent is not blocked at the outside wall cap. Clogged dryer vents are a leading cause of house fires — we strongly recommend a professional vent cleaning if yours has not been serviced in the past year. See our dryer not heating guide or call for a dryer repair.

Service area

Do you serve areas outside White Plains?

Yes. We serve all of White Plains and the surrounding Westchester towns, including Scarsdale, Harrison, Hartsdale, Greenburgh, Elmsford, Tarrytown, Valhalla, Eastchester, Rye, Rye Brook, Purchase, Bronxville, Mamaroneck, New Rochelle, Pleasantville, Thornwood, and Mount Kisco. See our areas we serve page for the full coverage list.

My dishwasher leaves a white film on dishes. Is that a repair issue?

White film on dishes is almost always caused by hard water mineral deposits — very common throughout Westchester County. It is often not a mechanical failure: it can frequently be resolved by using a rinse aid, running a dishwasher cleaner cycle, or adjusting the water softener settings on models that have one. However, if the spray arms are clogged with mineral buildup, the water inlet valve is partially blocked, or the wash cycle is cutting short, those are mechanical issues we can diagnose and fix. See our dishwasher repair page for more.

My washer won't drain. What should I check before calling?

First, unplug the washer and make sure the drain hose is not kinked or pushed too far into the standpipe. Then check the drain pump filter — on front-load washers it is typically behind a small access panel at the bottom front. Remove it carefully (have towels ready) and clear any debris. If neither of those fixes the issue, the drain pump itself may have failed, or there is a lid switch or control board problem. See our washer not draining guide for step-by-step instructions, or call for a washer repair diagnostic.

Do you sell new or reconditioned appliances if mine cannot be repaired?

Yes. We offer both new and quality reconditioned appliances — refrigerators, washers, dryers, dishwashers, and ranges. We include delivery, haul-away of your old unit, and professional installation. Call us and we will tell you what is currently available and help you match a unit to your space and budget. See our appliance sales page for more information.
